AUDIO: Saturday Night At The Oldies on WROW "Magic 590/100.5" - 6/27/20 (RANT)
Before I have to go into rant mode, here is a aircheck from 6/27/20 where WROW's "Magic 590/100.5" did "Saturday Night at the Oldies". After listening to the show, guess what! Richard Norris (aka Rockin' Richie) is not on "Magic" anymore. He did let go from the station since April along with another favorite of mine, Bob Johnson. Thanks to the whole COVID-19 crisis, and I forgot to say, Jay Scott, one half of Jay & Ben morning show is now let go back in February. Throughout the whole 5 hours and 12 minutes, you will hear just the music along with the jingles and the whole sh-bang, and that's it, but no DJ's are on there, but it's completely automated and it's now running jockless, and no commercials are on there.
And in addition to all of that, this is the worst part of what "Magic" is doing. They brought in a new voiceover to do liners for "Magic 590/100.5" as you can listen carefully during the aircheck. I hate the new voiceover guy who is now doing the liners for the station, along with a lady saying "Magic 590 & 100.5". This new voiceover for "Magic 590" sucks! I missed the Ziggy liners that he did that on the good old WCBS-FM for years than he did on "Magic", but this new voiceover is HORRIBLE!!!!
Now that WGNY-FM's "Fox Oldies" sucks, and now WROW's "Magic 590/100.5" sucks! This is where the station is starting to go downhill, because Richie Norris is not on the station doing "Saturday Night at the Oldies". I missed Richie Norris a lot, because he was one of my favorite DJ's where he did this and "Sunday Golden Memories" which I'll get into the next one as a bonus. He did a terrific job, but no question about it. I'm sad to see Richie Norris go, because he was one of the best DJ's of all time.
Now that "Magic 590" is going downhill, thanks to a new format on WKXP at 94.3 which is now "Lite-FM", they can grab all of "Magic's" audience to go to "Lite-FM", and then they grab listeners from "Fox Oldies" to go to "Lite-FM". To be honest, "Lite-FM" at 94.3 is a much better radio station than both "Fox Oldies", WBPM and "Magic 590", but "Lite-FM" at 94.3 is right in-between.
And I forgot to tell you, that throughout the whole show, in addition to what the music are playing, they're playing an abundant of 80's songs. For example, I hear "Some Guys Have All the Luck" by Rod Stewart on "Magic 590" which was an 80's song, and then "Tell Her About It" by Billy Joel which is also an 80's song, plus a boatload of 70's and 80's songs that is going to hurt WTRY-FM at 98.3 and WZCR's "Oldies 93.5", but let's face it! "Magic 590/100.5" is an oldies station, not a classic hits station. But not only that, a little mix of 50's and 60's songs mixing with some classic hits of the 70's and 80's bundled into one. I guess "Magic" is having a crazy time playing mostly 80's songs that we grew up during the MTV generation where they had music videos on there.
Enough said, if you have not listened to "Saturday Night at the Oldies" on "Magic 590/100.5" where they went completely jockless without Richie Norris, here it is.

In addition, a bonus aircheck from 6/28/20 is "Sunday Golden Memories" going completely jockless without Richie Norris.
