For those of you had tuned in to Rewound Radio this past Saturday, the "DJ Hall of Fame" salutes WODS, Dr. Sniffen played two shows from WODS. One was from 2002 with Brian Murphy and another one from two and a half weeks ago where WODS signed off for the final time to become "Amp Radio" as a CHR station.
Thanks goes out to Dr. Sniffen, the guy who runs the WABC tribute site, also the host of the "DJ Hall of Fame" and formerly the host of "Board Reflections" for putting this out. This aircheck contains JJ Wright and Paula Street where they did their sayonara show. Along with that were Jay Gordon of the "Elvis Only" show and Barry Scott of the "Lost 45's" show are guests for their wrap-up party. It has phone calls about sharing their memories of WODS for 25 years and of course the last song on their final show was the song that kicked off the oldies station was "Fun Fun Fun" by the Beach Boys. After that aircheck, Dr. Sniffen played the last 6 songs that are on WODS before flipping to CHR including "Give Me Just a Little More Time" by Chairmen of the Board, "Living On A Prayer" by Bon Jovi, "Changes" by David Bowie, "Sunshine Superman" by Donovan, "PS I Love You" by the Beatles and the last song to be played on WODS before going to "Amp Radio" was "Last Dance" by Donna Summer, and it was the end of an era, and the beginning of the new one.
After that, you hear the launch of "Amp Radio" throughout this aircheck. I just want to point that out that I recorded it off of Rewound Radio this past Saturday, and I heard the "Amp Radio" launch, and it ended abruptly which was halfway through the launch when Dr. Sniffen was saying "That's enough!" So I decided to do the hard way. I decided to pieced them together along with a full launch of "Amp Radio" taken from the Format Change website, and then, I put all three songs together to make it the launch of 103.3 "Amp Radio", I did a great job putting them together to make this station a rough start to a CHR station after oldies pulled the plug. You will hear the first three songs that played on the new 103.3 "Amp Radio", it is now being posted.
This goes out to "raccoonradio" if you are listening, here it is.
