Awards organization thinks WXIA/WATL news is the way to go

I personally like the new format WXIA/WATL has. I actually get something out of their news like Valerie Hoff's Ways to Save. They started having a mystery guest segment. Last night's mystery guest was Evander Holyfield and a one on one interview with Ted Hall. Quite frankly, I feel sorry for all people involved in the rapes, murders, robberies, and accidents each day, but I just don't need all of that to fill a newscast. Our country and the State of Georgia have a lot of unfortunate issues but to add all of the other depressing stories to those associated with the U.S., State, or County issues it's just too much day after day. People have gotten conditioned to think they have to see a gruesome accident or hear horrible murder details. Do you really need that information to get through your day? Of course not. Are you better off after hearing it? No. Why not learn about ways to save money or if an advertised product actually does what it says? That's a whole lot more useful. And of course you do need the weather and sports (at least many people want to know about their teams).

I'm still a fan of Channel 2 WSB-TV. Always on top of breaking news and the best traffic coverage in the mornings. I do wanna know about the murders, robberries and rapes that goes in my area. What good does it do to you if it's not reported, but yet in your area. Atlanta is to major of a city to try and soften local news.

I'd like to ask you a similar question:

What good does it do you to know about all the murders, rapes and robberies that occur? Because when you watch the local news you're getting crimes in all of North Georgia, not just your local area.
