MONTEL MOVES TO AZ-TV!
New Daytime Block To Include Judge Maria Lopez and Judge Karen

AZ-TV (KAZT, Channel 7/Cable 13) is pleased to announce that Montel, the long-running daytime talk show starring Montel Williams, will join its daytime lineup in September 2008.

Montel is the latest element of AZ-TV’s expansion of its programming beyond comedy. The station will debut a 2-hour daily court block with Judge Maria Lopez and Judge Karen in September.

In a field in which more than 80 talk shows have come and gone since its debut, Montel has established itself as an enduring brand built on quality and integrity. Entertaining, informative and relatable, the show’s longevity is a testament to Mr. Williams’ sincerity and compassion, in addition to his willingness to tackle complex issues head on. The show provides a safe forum for provocative and meaningful discussions about family, communication, and personal and social responsibility.

“We’re proud to have Montel, Judge Maria Lopez and Judge Karen on AZ-TV”, said Michael Hagerty, AZ-TV’s Director of Programming and Promotion. “These are three strong, vibrant personalities that deal with contemporary real-life issues and create compelling television for young adult women.”

The hit reality shows Cribs and Pimp My Ride will also join the lineup in the fall. And comedy will remain a key part of AZ-TV’s programming, with Everybody Hates Chris scheduled to premiere in fall 2009.

Since its launch in April, 2002, AZ-TV has led the way in classic and contemporary comedy(George Lopez, According to Jim, Frasier, Reno 911!, Chappelle’s Show, My Wife & Kids, Frasier, Married…With Children, Cheers, The Brady Bunch, The Andy Griffith Show, I Love Lucy and in 2009, Everybody Hates Chris), regional sports and local talk and public affairs programs, reaching more than 1.8 million households over the air, on cable and on DIRECTV and Dish Network satellite, as well as a global audience online at www.arizonasown.com. KAZT-DT 7.2 launches in 2008 with programming from RTN-The Retro Programming Network.
 
The Nurse and I chuckled when we read the author of the press release quoting himself in the press release! If things don't work out at AZ-TV Mike, we could use your talents at the Buckeye Media Hut. The Circle K isn't downstairs, but within walking distance...so how 'bout it? ::)

Are these first run Montel shows or reruns? I thought I had heard somewhere that Montel's show had been cancelled and no longer would be in production.

CBS Television Distribution is putting a "best of" package into syndication...all episodes are from the past two seasons, so the topics, content, look and style will be contemporary.
Research indicates that even an avid fan of a particluar daytime talk show sees maybe 2 episodes a week. That means there's a 60 percent chance that a viewer will not have seen any given repeat.

call em "best of" or "encore presentations" if you want, but these are re-runs, that have already aired many, many times in the market. good luck.
