B/CS personality & East Texas radio owner Jason Hightower has died

Our old boss Benny Springer notified me of this yesterday. Jason and I were part of the original staff at Osburn-Reynolds owned KAGG "Aggie 96" and he also did the night shift at KORA in Bryan/College Station.

He went on to co-host the morning show with Bobby "Slam" Duncan at KTSR, did a second tour on the air at KORA before going in to ownership near his home town of Winnsboro at KMOO-Mineola.

He died of brain cancer. He was 37 if I am correct.

Sure hate to hear that. While I didn't know Jason personally, I have friends that did. I'm sure he will be missed.

kmoo.com is currently displaying his picture along with a link to e-mail sympathy/condolence messages.

I know life is precious -- but to be gone at the young age of 37 is a sobering reminder of exactly how precious life is. Tell your loved ones what you think of them. Don't wait for tomorrow. Tomorrow may never become today.

My sympathies to his family. God bless...

I was beyond shocked to hear about Jason. He did a great job with KMOO in Mineola. He got the most of limited resources and he definitely knew what being a community broadcaster was all about. My sympathy to his family and friends and the KMOO family. I only hope KMOO will continue in the legacy that he leaves behind. RIP.
