This is kind of a surprise. I thought they were doing OK. I guess when the numbers for the rest of the day are doing better then your morning show...
But remember...B98.5 is an office station. The morning show ends at 9 AM, just as the business day is starting.
The thing I find odd is that Steve is given the boot...but Vikki is given the opprotunity to stay. It does appear that it is a move to keep the pair apart...but I highly doubt Vikki will take it, because she would have to do a music intensive show, and I doubt she would be happy with that setup.
I do see Kelly and Alpha coming back. They left Cox on good terms. What I also wonder is why Steve and Vikki were not allowed to stay on for the remainder of the deal, when Kelly and Alpha were allowed to stay on. I suspect an immediate need to improve ratings may be behind this, and not fear of anything un-FCC.
As for Steve and Vikki returning to Star 94 or any future format on a Lincoln Financial owned 94.1...forget it! The lawsuit Lincoln Financial filed against the pair when they started promoting B98.5 has burned bridges. Clear Channels desire to save money precludes them from any CC-format, The Groove or otherwise. They will have to wait out until either 92.9 or 100.5 flips to an compatable format. And given B's monster numbers under PPM, another AC will come to town.
