Back-to-back fill-in-the-blank with Match Game and Blank Slate on GSN

Last month, Blank Slate debuted on January 8, 2024 on Game Show Network.

So it's time to mashup soon with back-to-back fill-in-the-blank game show episodes with:

Match Game with Gene Rayburn at 1:00PM
Blank Slate with Mario Lopez at 1:30PM

on Game Show Network.

So get on with the mashup together with Match Game contestants and Black Slate team captains. Woo!(y)

Does GSN no longer show classic game shows?

Only Match Game. The 2nd and 3rd oldest game shows are Who Wants To Be a Millionaire (ABC, Regis Philbin) and Deal or No Deal (NBC, Howie Mandeal) everything else is Game Show Network originals and Steve Harvey Family Fued, Newer episodes of Wheel of Fortune around 2020, $100,00 Pyramid (ABC, New Version), Press Your Luck (ABC, Elizabeth Banks) and People Place or Thing.

Sounds awful.

It beats the heck out of the 8,491st repeat of some second-tier game show—and I’m a game show fan.

Buzzr serves that audience, including some god-awful dreck like the Match Game/Hollywood Squares Hour and something like the 700th time running through Card Sharks.
The whole point of Game Show Network was to show classic game shows. Not new stuff that sucks.

Some of the new stuff is what now gets sold into first run syndication now. In 2019 America Says was in syndication. For 2023-2024 it's People Puzzler.

The new syndicated game show Person, Place or Thing is also rerun on Game Show Network but it feels like it could be a Game Show Network Show even though it's not.

Pssst….business models change. And classic is a stretch. Not to mention they’ve had originals in various permutations for years.
Plus, while some of those "classic" game shows may attract the much older demographic (along with the ad nauseum commercials about walk-in tubs, hearing aids, medicare supplements, independent living / home health and the like) many people probably 55 and under are turned off by them. For instance, when I was home for the holidays, my elderly parents were watching Match Game. I reminded them that none of the questions or answers were topical, as the show had been recorded before I was even born. I then went on my phone and quoted the year the host, each panelist and even Johnny Olsen had died. Some have been gone for 40 years or more.

As of February 26, 2024, new Game Show Network 8AM-3PM schedule is here:

8:00AM: Catch 21 replaces Tug of Words
8:30AM: Catch 21
9:00AM: Person, Place or Thing
9:30AM: 25 Words or Less replaces Master Mind
10:00AM: The People Puzzler Hour
11:00AM: Who Wants to Be a Millionaire with Regis Philbin
12:00PM: Deal or No Deal

2 hours of fill-in-the-black with:

1:00PM: The Match Game Hour with Gene Rayburn
2:00PM: Blank Slate replaces America Says
2:30PM: America Says

I enjoy seeing the Regis Philbin original Millionaire shows on GSN. Remember when it was such a sensation? It sometimes was three of the week's most watched shows. Unfortunately ABC ran it so many evenings a week it may have burned out.

A daytime version ran from 2002 to 2019. I was on Millionaire when it was hosted by Meredith Vieira.
