Bad news on Streaming international Dance Stations on your cell phone

So anyway,, I had originally had a Blackberry,,, unlike the I-Phone, it doesnt have apps for streaming stations to download.. The phone was free with a contract, and I had to pay 60 bucks a month for an unlimited Internet plan.. So anyway,,, I had to email certain stations to get their stream URL for their mp3,, only most of the European stations would give it to me,,, CC stations claimed they were not yet supported by streaming phones... So I thought it was really cool driving around town and out in the woods and listening to Slam FM Holland,, and RGR FM Belgium,,, Radio FG, Fun Radio, Radio Decibel, and other euro DANCE WEBCASTERS,, what I wasnt told was that streaming audio uses alot of Bandwidth, and even though the plan was unlimited, it only allows a certain amount of average web surfer use... And after that you have to pay.

Well I got a bill for 1,049.oo dollars... Like I can actually pay that, and they wont let me cancell either...

I hear the I-phone is 200 bucks to buy new,,, and 89 dollars for unlimited data, but that it trully does mean unlimited,, plus you can download I heart Radio for all the CC streams,, you can get all the CBS and AOL stations, and you can dowload a Full Shoutcast/Itunes app too....

I was about to say if you have the unlimited plan, it souldnt rack up a grand on the bill. I recently got the iPhone and my plan is $60 tho.

MWC - Just stream Energy 98. Best dance music on the planet! Just think - if we weren't in the US - we'd be cool to all the board folk here.

How many hours were you spending with your phone listening to the stations? I think they might be charging you for phone usage, not for internet usage. You need to get an unlimited calling plan to go along with unlimited internet usage.
It doesnt make sense that they would charge you for the net. It's not like you were making international calls to hear these stations. If you're paying a fixed cost for unlimited internet then your cell phone company should honor that. You need to call up customer service and tell them the following:
* You have been honoring your contract by paying 60 dollars per month for unlimited internet usage
* You were under the impression that unlimited meant NO LIMITS to how much time you
* Your internet company at your house probably only charges you forty dollars for high speed internet. Tell them it's faster, more reliable, and you never get a high bill like the one you received.

Your right Chrles,,, I think they are trying to rip me a new one.... And Mikeo I emailed you about backdoor stream URLs, and I-Party radio too, with no reply???? Russ at 1club gave me the mp3 links to all of his Dance stations...

I never got your email... Where did you send it to? Go to the website, click Contact Us and send me an email though there.

MWC,

There are actually a few apps for the blackberry that stream stations. You might want to head over to crackberry.net and search the forums for your phone. Also, check out Moodio.fm and download the (free) app. It already has a lot of US based stations listed including the dance stations (Energy, Party, C89.5, etc).

What carrier do you have?

It was At and T but I got an I-phone now, and they promised me unlimited streaming... I have a Shoutcast, and a CC and CBS and I tunes APP.... All free... My Blackberry said European net stations count as a national call....BS....... But I Phone said its all good... unlimited is unlimited.. and I got 3 free months for getting ripped by blackberry and after that,,, just 60 months for unlimited Calls to US, Canada,, Mexico, and western Europe,, and all websites and net radio is all free too.. so I dont need the URLs now,,, its all avaliable to click on... A simple FM Modulater sends the streams to the car speakers... So I can listen to Energy 98, Slam FM,,, Europa Plus,,,, Nile FM,,, All in the car radio unlimited... its awesome.

So, my question is, would I be better off getting an iPhone, or should I just get a regular laptop? And which phone company is the best to use for iphones?

Is an iPhone just as good, handy, and reliable as a laptop? And is it possible to do internet radio through an iPhone?

I'm kinda glad I didn't go for the iPhone back when I first thought about doing so before reading this. Just to clarify, back when I was thinking about getting it, I just thought they (all phones with internet) were all iPhones and was about to go for the company who told me the best "story" (or deals based on the features). AT&T told me straight up that their phones had internet radio capabilities. T-Mobile stumbled and stuttered a bit and started getting into what I COULD do to get it on their phones.
