Barney Pip Aircheck on WPIX-FM 1972 Parts 1 and 2

Why did he sound that way on PIX? We used to call him "Cancer Throat". He sounded like a different person when he was on the air in Chicago.

Is it me? ..or does this guy sound awful?

Forgive me, I don't have any market history to my background...but this jock sounds like he should be on in Boise Idaho or something...not NYC!

Especially the first clip...he's making all sorts of mistakes, stumbling all over himself, etc. This was an evening shift?

I also thought the jingles were awful too! "For the good of New York!" ;-)

What years was WPIX-FM playing popular music? I assume this was owned by the Ch 11 WPIX-TV folks...did they ever have an AM counterpart?
