Barnicle Following The Political Format Of Imus Without The ...

Seems that Mike Barnicle is following the political format of the Imus show without the name calling.

Interesting guest that local pol Tom Finnegan could never get or it he did would not know as well as Barnicle.

Making for interesting listening from 6 - 10 on 96.9.

If you had any credibility before you just lost it. Barnicle is causing accidents during the commute by putting people to sleep, he's just got no energy at all.

If you're trying to get a job working for the hack Barnicle, forget it. He's already got a lap dog (ie: Shaughnessy).

Barnicle idolized Imus the way Howie uused to Idolize Limbaugh. It should not be any shock that Barnicle would sound like diet Imus, or Imue "lite".

Barnicle is all the worst of the Imus world: second-string, irrelevant guests (Dodd, Matthews, etc) but none of the entertainment value.

Why is a guy who clearly hates radio still on the radio? The only thing he does well is funerals. The Halberstam stuff, for example. But is Mike the Undertaker a good radio show?

Tim Russert, a second string guest? I don't think so. How about Harlan Coben, Lupica, Walter Isaacson, John McCain? Second string? C'mon. Where in Boston do you get consistent guests like Barnicle's show? No where.

I have to agree in the politically charged time in which we live, you cannot say Chris Matthews is a second string guest. They may not be to your liking but second string is not accurate.

WHo cares about guests? Barnicle's the issue, and he sucks.

The only "Second Stringer" is on WRKO from 6-10AM. That
adenoidal Tom Finneran is enough to make one hit the OFF button on your radio if it is unfortunately set up to turn on WRKO in the morning. Finneran is a local hack pol and as long as he can talk about anything within a 3mile radius of Mattapan and DAWCHESTA he is in good shape. Beyond that Finneran is a total flop. Give me Barnicle - lite or heavy - any morning. He brings the world to 96.9 in the morning Finneran gives us DAWCHESTA on WRKO. The choice is clear cut !

Has Barnicle had John McCain?

Maybe for local radio Chris Matthews is a top-rated guest, but not in the media world. Giuliani, Clinton, Tom Cruise, Oprah, Cheney, these are first tier guests to me.

Tim Russert? Please. He gets great guests, but he isn't a newsmaker himself.

really?

Cruise is great as long as he flashes that million dollar smile and doesn't say anything - not exactly a first tier radio guest.

I'd much rather listen to Russert.

Yes. McCain. Oprah? What type of newsmaker is she? Oh, yeah. She's got a school that she likes to promote in Africa. Tom Cruise?

Russert is the most respected name in the news business with access to the most important people in the country. To have him as a guest isn't relevant? Oprah? Come on. It's OK if you don't like the guy, but he gets good guests. Have you heard the list of authors, political operatives, politicians and the like on the show?

Is McCain not newsworth? Joe Biden?

Oh, yeah. Don't forget to TiVo Rosie today.

By the way Varulven, where can I catch your act? I'd love to. I read references to your abilities, but never seem to know where I can watch or hear them. I'm sure other readers of this board would like to catch your act, also. Are you producing something musical or on TV? You do a TV show, right? Where? What is your radio expertise? Some of the posters here are in the business. You can tell by the info they post. How about you?
