Battle of the Lowcountry Rockers: WFXH 106.1 vs. WYBB 98.1

So who do you think is better & why?

Both are 50,000 watt active rockers. 106 does skew more alternative, while 98 tends to lean towards 70's-80's arena/hair classics. 98 appears to be live more than 106. 98 is impaired by having its stick so far away from Charleston, while 106 is located right between Hilton Head & Savannah.

Any other similarities/differences that make one better or worse than the other?

I love 98X. I think 98X's signal is pretty good in Charleston and surrounding areas. 98's mix is solid as hell. They do play a lot of grunge, metal, mixed with a taste of alternative, and classic rock. That's what made it so great with 96 Wave was around. You had the eclectic music of 96.1 and the hard rock on 98.1. (Even though Wave played most of the grunge too) As for Rock 106.1, they are an active ALTERNATIVE station meaning they rely on new rock and image themselves that way but will throw in classic rock. They are pretty predictable while 98X surprises the hell out of me sometimes. 98X will play some great cuts that no one else in SC is playing. My vote goes for the X!

Slight correction: Both stations are class C2: 98.1 has 50K, and 106 has 25K, but more height on their stick to compensate.
