I had to update this as I found this too funny.
A day or so ago I finally got my last statement from DirecTV. In the same day's mail I got another envelope from DirecTV with a solicitation stating "it's not too late to come back" - the offer being $29.95 for 12 months of service.
The wizards still don't get it. They can't figure out that their stupid 12 month discount does not equal HD free for life. And they wonder how come they are losing existing subscribers as they defect to lower cost alternatives.
The brainiacs over at DirecTV missed the boat on this one. If they had dropped the HD fee for dissatisfied existing customers, something they are already doing for *new* customers, I would have likely stayed with them since I was somewhat satisfied with their service, although it was pretty costly for the amount of channels I watched. Now, I watch HDTV for much less than I paid them for regular service and they now have one less customer.
It will be a cold and clammy day in hell before I go back to them. With all the choices out there why get ripped off?
