Yes the KLEJ calls made sense. I'm not sure why, but they recently changed the FM to KSIG to match the AM when the simulcast began just a few months ago. This is odd because the KSIG calls don't really play into the new moniker and were always associated with rock & roll oldies. Personally, I really enjoyed the Cajun music/Country music mix. I reserve classic country for weekends so that I don't get burned out and enjoy it. While I don't know how much money they were making with the Cajun/Country hybrid, apparently it wasn't' enough or they wouldn't changed. If they weren't making money, I am surprised as the spot load seemed pretty heavy on Bayou. They have relegated themselves into a format that is already saturated in Acadiana. While they are on a a class A signal that performs quite well given the facilities, it still pales in comparison to the coverage of KMDL, the #1 country station in the market as a C2 and KXKC (Nash) that is the #2 signal on a C1. There is also 107.1 that has recently flipped to country. Does Lafayette (and Acadiana) really need 4 country stations + WYNK & WTGE from Baton Rouge that both cover all of Acadiana? I'm pretty sure it's a "NO". The 6 choices available basically anywhere in Acadiana doesn't even include 92.3 Nash FM (NOLA), KRRV (Alexandria), 105.5 KEUN (Eunice), plus a few rimshots I'm probably missing.
