Chris is right. 1090 is currently leading the market in
local direct buys. It only makes sense to extend that
reach into a full-coverage situation. The AM coverage
in El Cajon/Lakeside/Alpine etc. was abysmal. However
the AM has a huge Northern reach that makes it San
Diego's best regional signal. I've heard it clear as a bell
in Seattle, San Francisco, and Portland.
The FM will give them access to cume, previously unavailable,
as well as the already discussed fringe areas for their AM.
Now they need a real morning show. Dull and Listless, I mean
Scott and BR are better suited for a Charger talk segment or
a scrub fill-in gig, they are not major performers. It's too
bad Steve Mason went to KMPC, he is an exceptionial talent.
But I agree, someone with a good signal should consider Oldies,
or a form of 60's/70's hits. It can work, but will require
actual talent, marketing muscle, and focused music. Maybe..
a Mexican FM frequency...
