ThebigA- Yes I agree that it will make it more mainstream- but unknown bands being left to the crap signals of college stations is unfair. If Nicki Manaj gets to be on WSTW, WPST, Wired, Power 99, WJBR, WLEV, WBEB (More FM), WIOQ, Mix 106 and WPHI 107.9, then so should bands like Yuck, Grouper, Doug Gillard, The Ettes, Manic Impression, Television, and thousands more left to the totally unfair music market. The idea of not being mainstream is rad, but they want exposure as well. So if making 92.5 a station that plays the latter 70's underground punk/new wave bands and all the other indie bands from then up to today and throw in some EDM/ trip-hop stuff, I would bet that the station would do at least decent. Radio is a business, but it's the business of broadcasting the art, ART, of music. If there are 9 Top-40 stations in the market, there should be at least one Indie/ Rock station that has the same coverage area as the top 40's do. I applaud WKDU 91.7 for its format and playlists, but its coverage area is poor. It' gets out to maybe 10 miles from the transmitter. So why not take a shot at something like this?
