I don't have an answer for you. There have been quite a few changes in the internet providers along the way. I have put music beds together for the internet holes, I have put Jingles together to fill the internet holes. This was all mandated by ABC/Disney. Our internet (stream etc) stuff is done by an outside contractor through corporate.

This current incarnation of our stream seems to be JUST HOLES. Now if you listen to the archives, you get the whole show, spots and all.
With all due respect your archives do not have ad spots. All thats on it is one short jingle through each break. As of yesterday at least. From time to time I check the archives to see if theres music because it makes me jump due to Cerebral Palsy.

Sorry for making you jump. Well at least I know where the jingles went. Cause they are not on the stream. Just holes. Are you out of the market ? Or can you only listen online?

I live in San Lorenzo in the East Bay. I listen to KGO from 8:30 PM to 5 AM on my CC Radio, a great radio by the way. Sometimes I wake up at various times and catch parts of shows. It would be great if the archives had ads or looped music.

Regards
Paul

Paul, The elimination of Spots and Music from the stream/internet is an ABC/Disney mandate. They do not want to have to pay the production airstaff extra or have to pay higher license fees for production music. They were afraid that the union, AFTRA, would want more money for the airstaff. Plus many agencies are not allowing their already produced spots to be played anywhere but on the air. it seems to be happening more and more.

So the easy and cheap way to do this is to feed only programing (ie. talkshows) to the stream and exclude all recorded material. This does not include news actualities which are fed to the stream during the news blocks. And strangely enough the Spots in net news feeds.

I know. However ABC is alone. CBS, Clear Channel, Cumalus, Citadel and some mom and pop companies broadcasts spots over the Internet.

In most cases, the spots you hear over the internet from these companies are not the same ones as are broadcast over the air. These companies have the same union issues as ABC with commercials. They use software to insert local spots voiced by non-AFTRA talent, non-agency spots, etc. in to cover the on the air spot breaks (as well as psas, jingles, promos, etc.) They charge separately for these web commercials.

Re: Bernie Ward Out? more voice over ad work

I notce ward has been doing more ads..I think he has more credibility for the consumer than owens, burns, etc...and it is nice to hear a regular guy voice with excitement and sincerity....and with 80% of the bay area sick of this war crap ....I think ward is more "mainstream" now to some extent....owens is out for owen...burns wants a free meal...ward has integrity whwn it comes to products and service...he still has a lard butt though
