Thanks to shakes for the kind words about our efforts, and I'll second the motion on Brother Wease.
There's still enough good talent on the radio in Rochester, despite all the foolish corporate cutbacks that threaten our business' long term viability, that I don't want to single anyone out in either the current generation or those who've just recently retired or moved on (and perhaps, if we're lucky, might come back).
I will mention people who've been on the radio in the past who I miss (and a lot of us I'm sure miss as well);
Jack Slattery and George Haefner, who were Rochester's premier morning team for a generation
Eddie Meath, who was beloved as a radio personality and then proved that local morning TV talk could succeed before his untimely passing
Jack Palvino, Joe Deane, Nick Nickson, Larry White and Ferdinand J. Smith, who entertained us on BBF (and in Larry and Ferdie's case, later in the 70s on WAXC) as we were growing up and coming of age
We could mention more folks who appeared on Rochester TV and radio before moving on, like Anne Keefe (who really belongs to St. Louis, where she's a local legend), Doug 'Greaseman' Tracht (best known for his work in DC), or Foster Brooks (best known for what he did in Vegas and Hollywood).
Some of us also have memories of Buffalo, whose stations reach Rochester and whose personalities including Danny Neaverth, Jackson Armstrong, Joey Reynolds, Jeff Kaye, Jack Mindy, Stan Roberts, Stan Barron, Sandy Beach and more built followings in both towns.
Guess it's up to us who are in the business now or coming into it in the near future, to keep the torch lit. Hope we do....
