"Best of" Montel comes to an sudden end in LA!

KDOC in So Cal is dropping this show like a hot potato, after only a month! No sending it to the neverland of overnight to play out the rest of the season, just gone off the schedule completly after Friday 10/10. I think mostly, the station was disappointed that producers were only going back to the past three seasons, and not offering up any truly "classic" Montel shows from the 80's and 90's. I wonder if CBS/Paramount will wait out the season before pulling the show altogether.

Not surprising, KDOC is notorious for yanking shows off their schedule without explanation. The syndication costs for Montel was probably more than KDOC was willing to spend when the can replace it with Andy Griffith for pennies on the dollar and get the same amount of eyeballs tuning in.

Currently in Atlanta, WPCH (aka WTBS) is carrying it. No word if they have any plans to yank it. Anyways, they have the money to show it anytime during the day they want.

WPCH "Peachtree TV" (the former WTBS) has demoted it to the 2 AM position, after the midnight movie. WPCH is still owned by Time Warner - so they have resources.

These are repeats. If they don't get ratings, then they are the first shows to get booted to overnight or yanked outright.

Either way, the stations that air it still have to pay for it (The Best of Montel is 100% cash). I am assuming KDOC pulled it so they didn't have to pay for something no one would be watching.
