"Best of the 80s, 90s, and Today"

or "Best Mix of the 80s, 90s, and Today" or "Best Variety of the 80s, 90s, and Today". That was one of the main slogans for Hot Adult Contemporary radio stations here in the US, but with Variety Hits/Adult Hits (Jack) sweeping the nations, this leads me to a question. Are there a lot of those "Best Mix/Variety of the 80s, 90s, and Today" stations left or using that slogan or have most flipped to Jack or change their slogan? I know that Mix 107.3 in Washington DC says "We Play the Best Mix of Everything" and PLJ in New York City is "The Best Mix" or something like that.

The Bright AC Network from Westwood One uses the decade chant as their slogan....so many stations are using it that way....

In Chicago, neither WTMX or WLIT use decade chants....WLIT uses the other popular "Todays Hits and Yesterdays Favorites"....while the mix is still using a variation of the Jack Slogan..."Today's New Music and Whatever We Want"

Nassau-Suffolk aka Long Island, NY (Market 18) Hot AC station WMJC 94.3 (liscenced to Smithtown) calls themselves 80s, 90s, and Today.

WQAL/Cleveland, which used to be "80's, 90's, and Today" and then became "80's, 90's and Now" dropped 80's about a year ago and is now simply "90's and Now"

WMVX/Cleveland, which was "Hits from the 90's, 80's, Today, and 70's" then went to "Rock Hits of the 80's, 90's and Today" to "The Best Music of the 80's, 90's, and Today" is now "No Rules, Just Great Music" and has a Variety Hits sounding playlist.

WKDD/Akron has always been some form of "Today's Best Music"

Y102 here in Reading PA goes simply by "Rock Hits- Y102"

And I know 106-VIC in Ithaca is morphing between two:

JSN's Hot AC satellite service reportedly will be phasing out their positioning statement "The Best Variety" over the next few weeks in direct response to the recent "Adult Hits" programming trend. They even went so far as to rebrand the division as "Hot AC"...until recently the service was refered to as "Adult Hit Radio". No wholesale changes in the musical portion of the product are expected. They had beed using "The Best Variety" as their main positioning statement for the past several years.

Max 106.3 in Blairstown, NJ is "The 90s and Now" and WPLJ in New York is something like "The New Music Mix" and "You never know what you'll hear next". A lot like Jack. <P ID="signature">______________

KDMX -FM Dallas/Ft Worth Mix 102.9 The best mix of the 80's 90's and Today

star 101.5 (KPLZ - Seattle) slogan:

best mix of the 80's, 90's and today (and whatever weekends)

earlier this year, they used the "whatever we want", starting the rumor that they were going the variety hits format, but KRQI (96.5) flipped to jack, and infinity threatened a lawsuit against fisher (the owners of KPLZ) over the trademarked slogan

In Denver:

KIMN - MIX 100 uses "MIX 100 - 90's, 80's and Now" with the "Your Music, Your Station" tagline plus KIMN does the "Whatever" weekends theme too...

KALC - Alice 105.9 uses the "Your Music, Your Station" slogan exclusively.

Also to note: MIX leans more to the Pop/Mainstream side since we lost our CHR/Main (KISS) a few months back and Alice leans more to the Modern AC/Rock side. Of course, KJAC - 105.5 JACK FM uses the "Playing What We Want" slogan.

In the Springs:

KVUU - My 99.9 (just recently changed from K-View to My) uses the "My 80's, My 90's, My Music" slogan to go with the "My" name.

KRDO - The Peak 95.1 uses "The Best Variety" slogan.
