Can anyone give advice about the best place to learn about jobs that are available at stations in Georgia? I see some postings here from time to time, but this doesn't seem to be the best place for that.
The Georgia Association of Broadcasters used to post jobs. I think you had to subscribe to it however. You might want to call their office in Atlanta. Or www.gab.org.
How about right here?
WEKS FM (92.5 The Bear) is looking for an experienced LOCAL radio salesperson to replace one of the best sellers I have ever known. He is leaving behind a great LOCAL list and I need someone to take over the list and then grow with us as we are experiencing great increases... yes I said increases in revenue. This is NOT an entry level position but will require someone with extensive experience in prospecting, interviewing, creating proposals, closing, and yes, collections! If you want to work for a radio station that does things right... live all day long, heavy community involvement, all the sales tools you could ever need, brand new facilities, the dominant signal in all of South Atlanta, and even a seven foot bear... email me and let's talk.

My advice on getting a Georgia radio job is to get to know people. Job boards are like chasing your own fanny. Get some interviews and if you are an air talent you need to work on some airchecks. And take my advice; don't be a puker. Do like Buck Owens says and act naturally. You may have to hold your nose a little bit when you work at some stations. Oh and don't expect to get a full-time gig when starting out.
I found that out the hard way but way too late. So I got a job in discount retail and now fix computers for a living. I found I lacked a voice and a subsidy from wealthy parents/wife. Remember, radio is one person working to serve several so jobs are very scarce as you go up from small to large markets.
