Best songs on today's country radio

I'm liking the new single by the Zac Brown Band, "Highway 20 Ride". Sounds good, and that's what country should sound like. Zac Brown Band is pretty good (except for Toes, but only a little bit bad).

It has not really been released as a single, but I know of a guy who has been playing it at his station. It's called "Lead Me On" by Gloriana. Great tune! Great sound to it as well. My prediction is this song will be a BIG single for them.

I don't think I've mentioned "Twang" by George Strait, but I've heard it and it sure is good.

I like this one too. Am I alone in thinking the Possum could've done it back in the day? (He didn't, but he could've. Sort of has his sound, to my ear...)

I heard two good songs several weeks ago but don't remember an ything about them now. I'm sure I'll recognize them if they hit the top of the charts.

Every time I hear that one from E.C., I think its George Strait singing. Which is unfortunate for him, because if others are like me, he won't actually get remembered.

I can't remember what I heard over the weekend. I don't even remember lyrics now. It was kind of loud but still had the country flavor in its instrumentals.

Does anyone else here like The Band Perry-Hip To My Heart? It's been one of my favorites since I first heard it and I'm not burned on it yet. I wonder if there is any polarization on this song since it has a young pop sound.

"Young pop" isn't country.

Please, despite the stated topic, stick to the intention. I should have named the topic "Best songs on today's country radio that actually sound country".

"sound country" is subjective. What sounds country to one listener might not to another. If it's a big song on the country chart it should be fair game to discuss here.

"Young pop" tells me it's not.

The best country songs would have to be
Easton Corbin's "A Little More Country Than That".... it's a shame it only made it to the #2 spot
Lady Antebellum "Need You Now"
Jake Owen "Eight Second Ride"
And a new and upcoming artist Jordan Carter "John Deere Letter"
Justin Moore "Backwoods"

Ironman, I'm not sure what chart you are referring to, but "A Little More Country Than That" actually made it to #1 on the billboard chart early this month. http://www.billboard.com/artist/easton-corbin/1124046#/charts/country-songs?chartDate=2010-04-03

His latest single "Roll With It" is quite good as well, but it doesn't quite do it for me as much as his first single, perhaps it'll grow on me.

Lots of other good songs on the radio this year:
- Craig Morgan "This Ain't Nothin'"... great song, powerful lyrics
- Lady Antebellum's "American Honey" has grown on me, certainly more country-sounding than their previous singles.
- Clay Walker "She Won't Be Lonely Long"
- Reba McEntire "Keep On Loving You"
- Miranda Lambert "House That Built Me"... her last two songs are such an improvement over her earlier songs.
- also, Jarod Niemann's "Lover, Lover" seems to be getting some air time... it has a unique sound that I like
