Best songs on today's country radio

Well I heard a song on "The Highway" on SiriusXM called "The Porch" by Cjaye LeRose. I must say, I think she has potential in the music industry. Her voice is unique. I like it. Time will tell if country radio gives someone who actually sings country a chance.

I heard a song about a man who can't even bait a hook.

Justin Moore-Bait A Hook

I can't bait a hook or skin a buck myself. Yet I find Moore's character in the song more likeable than the pretentious new boyfriend who drives the Prius.

Thanks. I'm also unable to function outdoors.

I'm the last person who should actually like real country music.

I can't even remember what song I heard in the insurance office. I should have written down the lyrics. But it was inappropriate for an office situation. It would be good in the car. Maybe. It kind of had an edgy guitar. Hopefully I'll save money getting my home and car insurance from one company. Meanwhile, my old company (they might give me car insurance, but I don't know) had that Zac Brown song where he is sitting on the beach. That word needs to be censored by decent radio stations. It certainly doesn't belong in an office.

I actually only know of 1 station that doesn't use the alternative version of Toes.

I heard a song with the lyrics "Smoke a Little Smoke" and getting back to my original intention (I should have added a couple of words to the title to make it clear I was looking for "real" country), I didn't like it nearly as much as I once did because it had those contemporary sounding instrumentals.

Smoke a Little Smoke by Eric Church. You got the lyrics right.

I absolutely love "God Gave Me You" by Blake Shelton. I mostly prefer traditional country sounds, but I love the lyrics to this song. It makes me want to cry.

Does anyone else here like The Band Perry-Hip To My Heart? It's been one of my favorites since I first heard it and I'm not burned on it yet. I wonder if there is any polarization on this song since it has a young pop sound.
"Young pop" isn't country.

Please, despite the stated topic, stick to the intention. I should have named the topic "Best songs on today's country radio that actually sound country".

You should have named it "Best Songs on today's country radio that I approve of", ya snoot :) If a song is on Country radio it IS country, regardless of your narrow minded opinions. End of story.

A tune I'm having a lot of fun spinning right now is the new one from Little Big Town "Pontoon" Great summer song.

You know that's what happened to Doo-Wop music, a few old guys said "if it doen't sound the way I think it should sound, then it can't be allowed into our club." and you see what happened to the Doo-Wop genre. Different is good. Variety is good. Pushing the boundries is vital for survival. Country has made room for all, and that is why it thrives, with, or without your approval.
