Best songs on today's country radio

"Mama's Broken Heart" by Miranda Lambert sounds country, but it's also too loud.

It has potential. But the recording that exists is likely the only one there will be. They don't turn down the volume for people like me.

In a few years maybe this one will qualify for "classic country" status and we will see.
too loud? a bit, but maybe you was listening to a slick station that cranked up the volume, and/or pitch/speed even more than the original.
I doubt it. This is how country sounds today.

Two more songs on the radio now that I think are good are the following. :) :) :)

1.) "Missing You Crazy"-Jon Pardi
2.) "I Did It For The Girl"-Greg Bates

God bless you and these two new singers always!!! :) :) :)

Holly
Greg Bates absolutely!!! Add Cody Johnson's Diamond in My Pocket and Ride With Me...

My first favorite of this year is "Wagon Wheel" from Darius Rucker. To me, that song could not sound more country!!! :) :) :)

God bless you and him always!!! :) :) :)

Wagon Wheel is an awesome song. The only problem I have with it is all the AutoTune, which most people probably can't hear, but it's glaringly obvious to me. Of course now it's so pervasive in music that you have to try to ignore it when you can if you're going to listen to today's music without getting violent. Well I guess I may be the only one it has that effect on.

Last night I heard this on the ACM Awards and it sounded good.

I don't know whether the original is jazz-flavored like this performance was, but I like jazz-flavored.

And I don't mean so jazz-flavored that it doesn't sound country. I mean sort of like when rock and roll found its way into country music in the days of Elvis and Jerry Lee.

My most favorite songs on the radio these days are "Running Out Of Moonlight" from Randy Houser, "I Just Point At You" from Justin Moore, and "Hey Pretty Girl" from Kip Moore. :) :) :)

God bless you and them always!!! :) :) :)

Holly

P.S. Kip and Justin are not related, I don't think. :) :) :)

That song (All Over the Road) is darn good! Easton Corbin is trying to be the next George Strait, in my opinion. He's got some good twang, none of that fake-Australian twang (think of Keith Urban. So fake!)

Another user mentioned "Wagon Wheel" Darius Rucker, that's also another good song on the charts right now.
Joe Nichols' "Sunny and 75" is also a good song (only #32 on Bob Kingsley's chart right now however). I also like "Anywhere with You" by Jake Owen. I wish I had that type of freedom as what's in the song - go anywhere without economic problems. ;)

I don't think it's getting any airplay, and likely won't, but if you appreciate traditional country check out Ashley Monroe featuring Blake Shelton and "You Ain 't Dolly." Great traditional track, vocals blend well... reminds me of George and Tammy.

Nothing that contains elements of classical (unfortunately true), pop, or rock music. I actually like real country music and bluegrass.

My most favorite song on the radio right now is "The Beat Of The Music" from Brett Eldgridge.

God bless you and him always!!! :) :) :)

Holly

"I Got a Car" by George Strait. He continues to create good songs, even though it's only #34.
"It Ain't the Whiskey" Gary Allan is also a good song.

This chat hasn't been added to in a while so I will resurface it by sharing what I think are the best songs on country radio these days.

"I'm To Blame"-Kip Moore
"She Don't Love You"-Eric Paslay
"Lay Low"-Josh Turner
"Country"-Mo Pitney
"Buy Me A Boat"-Chris Janson
"I Got The Boy"-Jana Kramer
"God Made Girls"-Rae Lynn
"Gentle On My Mind"-The Band Perry
"Long Stretch Of Love"-Lady Antebellum
"Homegrown"-Zac Brown Band

God bless you and them always!!! :) :) :)

I wish I had given this thread a better title.

My original intention was to post the best songs, in the opinion of those like me who don't like the current sound, being played on the stations playing the new music.
