Let's see now I have Cablevision home to News 12--which seems to cover all of Fairfield County better than any of the Hartford/New Haven stations. But since News 12 doesn't count--
WFSB has improved their graphics and imaging. But still tend to follow the if it bleeds it leads montra. In some cases their graphics take up 1/4 of the 13-inch screen I have. And they still have Zany Scot Haney in the AM!
WTNH is back in my good graces as a decent source for news. Their website is great I must say. Those AP awards are well deserved. Sister station "My59" (MyTV9) stick to "entertainment." Dr. Mel and Geoff Fox still know how to get the weather done. Matt Scott and Gil Simmons (who I think worked for News12) aren't slouches either. And they cover CT--including the Eastern section of the state with help from The Day of New London. Mark Davis--other than his left-leaning bias (where else but New England!)--is a semi-competent political reporter
WVIT is waning for me. At one point this station was an outright contender. But things have staled there. Sure they have a great sports team in Kevin Nathan, Persefone Contos (her trademark sign-on though is grating) and sometimes Joe D'Ambrosio (the voice of the Huskies). Their NFL on NBC promo is quite LOL funny. Brad Field gets weather on the money along with Bob Maxon. Tom Monihan sets the news standard having been there almost since 30 signed on. But things otherwise are dull and some of the new talent they have look like CSB Graduates--take it from one who is and has no job in broadcasting now!
Fox 61--well it's a shadow of its former self. Guess this is what happens when Tribune runs your station. Get a morning newscast and send the trash shows to 20 and we may talk. Sister station CW20--see WTNH
