Big Changes Afoot At"Talker" WRKO In Boston/ Would Gene Burns Return to his Roots at WRKO

Big Changes Afoot At"Talker" WRKO In Boston/ Would Gene Burns Return to his Roots at WRKO

Rumors are rampant that Boston's "Talker" WRKO an Entercom station is anxious to get Gene Burns back to the station he left in the late 90's. WRKO has never been the same since he left. It has become infested with knee-jerk right wingers who tow the Republicrat line without the least bit of intellect behind it. A sad lot.

Now, WRKO wants to clean house. But why would Gene leave beautiful San Francisco for Boston? Would love to have him back with us. What is the word there?

Speaking of knee jerk, the knee jerk reaction would be "unlikely," but anything is possible and money may be the deciding factor --it almost always is. I do believe Mr. Burns recently signed a 3-year deal so there would be that hurdle to overcome as well.

Also, as a "foodie," he is very fond of the Bay Area and has often maintained that there is no better culinary region in the country than Northern California. That might be another reason he'd be reluctant to return to Boston.

That said, it would be anyone's loss and someone's gain should he leave one market for another. He is, by far, the best talk show host on the station (and that's saying a lot considering the rest of the staff), he makes the name-calling yappers on KSFO look like rank amateurs and puts the local talkers in Sacramento to shame (mostly a bad bunch there).

I hope he stays. If he goes, I hope one can listen online.

San Franciso's gain is Boston's loss.
He was the Best here. But then again we also had both the late Jerry Williams(on WRKO)"The Dean Of Talk Radio" as he will be called and the late David Brudnoy on WBZ. Now, Boston is left with drek (sp?) of the like of Howie Carr and John DePetro. Both are knee jerkers of the worst order.

Park you forgot we have the rephehensible Jay Severin. I would welcome Mr. Burns back to Boston....even as a liberal because he is a host who can debate a point and I can tolerate his take on things even when I dont see eye to eye on him. I love listening to KGO on the stream....but only want Burns to go back if they flip to a non-conservative format. Id like them to blend various views as successfully as KGO has done. Otherwise, stay right in SF, Gene.

Re: Big Changes Afoot At"Talker" WRKO In Boston/ Would Gene Burns Return to his Roots at WRKO

gene could stay in sf and isdn his show to boston.

why not simulcast on both stations ?

Re: Big Changes Afoot At"Talker" WRKO In Boston/ Would Gene Burns Return to his Roots at WRKO

That's exactly what Gene did when the new WMEX in Boston tried to start up a local talk radio station in 2000.
Unfortunately, the co-owner of the station, Brad Bleidt, a money manager, is sitting in jail for stealing investors' money to run the station which he eventually turned into an all business station which failed on its own.

Gene left long before that because he could see the writing all the wall.

Mr. Burns has two and a half year contract left with KGO. He hasn't said anything. He seems to like the wine country.

Re: Big Changes Afoot At"Talker" WRKO In Boston/ Would Gene Burns Return to his Roots at WRKO

This is hype. Mr. Burns has been looking for a house to purchase in San Francisco for the past six months.

Re: Big Changes Afoot At"Talker" WRKO free meal?

Burns would do anything for a fre meal and a bottle of wine and a free trip to a B&B he should go up against the conservoclones though through syndication
