Big changes coming nationally for CHR from the Top 2 Radio Corporations, how will Boston be affacted?

Radioinsight is reporting that both iHeartMedia and Audacy are planning sweeping changes coming to CHR and its Rythmic cousins.

This is including standardizing station format branding, and adding national live radio shoes for both mid-days and evenings.

How can if affect the Boston market, if anything at all? I suspect that Kiss will likely be the station that could be most affected by these changes.

What the article says is Audacy is cutting staff, while iHeart is adding staff. Thus, "diverging plans."

Audacy no longer has a CHR in Boston. iHeart's Kiss is already local all day, and they run Seacrest at night. So I don't expect any changes there at all.

Oh, I had not realized that they changed Ryan Seacrsst's time at all. And while Mix isn't a CHR, they are Adult Top 40, just saying is all.

Lance's article was very confusing and difficult to follow; I didn't need the level of detail he crammed into said article about personnel and stations not well known here.

My only wish is that WBZ brings back Michael Coleman to produce ads with creativity and wit.

It’s pretty easy to follow; I read it just fine.

I enjoy all of those intricate details! My approach to radio is very similar to that of a sports fanatic! I want to read about the in's and out's on a radio station. Why they are doing what they are doing? How are other stations are competing? Both future and current trending things that are happening, etc, etc!

As the article states, iHeart is actually hiring more local talent.

iHeartMedia, on the other hand, is on the hunt for additional talent. I’ve been told that Chairman/CEO Bob Pittman and President/COO/CFO Rich Bressler are both aware the company has cut too deep over the past couple of years and they will be refilling some of those lost positions. The focus right now appears to be on restaffing promotions departments gutted during the pandemic, however the company we’re told by multiple people is also putting a focus on developing new CHR morning shows.

One example was the hiring of Jubal at Seattle's KBKS.

It's not in the article, but there's been a trend at Cumulus to drop the Nash centralized morning show and replace it with local.

I didn't find the article confusing. Audicy made there shifts in other formats at the end of summer, last year. They're banking on national or regional shows covering many of their stations. iHeart is going in the opposite direction. What that means for Boston is that WXKS-FM stays the same or gets more staff, based on whether they had cuts or not. Not sure who got axed from there (on and off-air). If WBGB was still Amp, then the question would have been what that meant for that station.

IHeart mentioned some of the top 40 morning shows were on the "wrong side of 50" if true, any changes in Boston...
