Big changes are set to hit the Flemish part of Belgium in the coming weeks and months.
Radio Donna decided last month that it needs a makeover. The CHR that can pretty much be heard Belgium-wide has been facing stiff competition from Q-Music (an Adult CHR) in recent years. As a result it's expected to rebrand as NMN after the new year, and possibly go in a different direction formatically.
Radio Contact, which has been a CHR fixture in the Belgian radio landscape for 30 years, is also calling it quits. It remains to be seen what will happen to all the frequencies in its possession, but there is strong talk of the network going after the 45+ crowd come March.
This past year has been a positive one for several stations in Waloon, the French speaking part of Belgium. Some stations saw significant power increases to their transmitters.
It remains to be seen what 2009 will have in store for both Wallonia and Flanders, but if anyone has any updates feel free to post them.
