Bigfoot sighting in Asheville

FCCdata.org had filings about a change of trustee for the estate under WSKY. I didn't take time to download and read. Looked kind of messy without reading the whole story.

The 25 mile 60 db rule from the AM tower for a FM translator would work in Asheville if and only if you fill a sellable format hole.

WSKY has been owned by a Christian broadcaster with several stations.

That broadcaster is Wilkins, out of Greenville, SC and man, they own a slew of 'em and go up and down everybody else's log a lot, from my experience. Home - Wilkins Radio Network I do like their on-demand feature, when programs use it.

Well the "Bigfoot" partnership between WBRM and WZGM has ended as of Oct 1. I cannot get WZGM (1350) Black Mountain nor its translator at 96.1 but I can only assume both are off the air at this time. I thought Billy Buck Blevins had bought WZGM outright a year or two ago (after his then-recent purchase of WCAB Rutherfordton and WBRM Marion), but it now appears it was only a lease with Lincolnton-based HRN Broadcasting. Initially - after Billy Buck's involvement - WZGM was independent of WBRM and I think they even had a Black Mountain studio. That was short-lived as they started the WBRM simulcast just a few months ago -- which may have signaled the end anyway. When I look back through WZGM's history, it would take an accountant to keep track of all the format changes over the past 20 years.
No one posted about it but when I checked 1350 AM on the way to the mountains, it was still Bigfoot Country. Whether or not the music was good and whether or not the signal was good, I just stayed on it.

On the way home I was able to get a good signal from The Q (WTZQ Hendersonville at 1600) and it seems to be oldies. I should have checked it when 97.3 FM went Spanish.

When I first left the motel I was hearing "Sweet Dreams" by Eurhythmics. Anyone want to speculate what station that was?
