Bill Simmons 'the sports guy' takes on Ordway?

Probably contrived, but interesting given WEEI and ESPN's new relationship.

Simmons, by the way, is only allowed to go on WEEI-AM (850) since the sports radio behemoth struck a partnership with ESPN last month.

So Simmons went on WEEI’s John Dennis and Gerry Callahan’s show a few weeks back to chat about his best seller. The duo asked him about a Twitter post he wrote in July about the new WBZ-FM “The Sports Hub.”

“So excited someone is challenging WEEI. They are the mid-’80s Soviets: a smoke & mirrors superpower with warts. And we know how that ended,” Simmons wrote.

“I’m not worried about you guys,” Simmons told the pair. “I would worry about the afternoon show though.”

Wish I had heard the call into D&C

Edit: It's listed under D&C's podcast (available thru the iTunes store), going to check it out now.

I read somewhere (probably SoSH) that he went on Felger's show and Felger called him a crybaby.

Why would anyone worry about a sports show? Outside of the celeb callers, Big O's NABG.
“I’m not worried about you guys,”
Simmons doesn't wake up to this dreck. It's not what they are saying, it's how they are saying it. Toss in Meter and it's intolerable.

I agree, aside from Gerry's far right take the other reason I stopped listening was the insufferable arrogance.

A high point of the interview with Simmons was D&C trying to make the argument that 890 espn was on par with 98.5 in terms of having always had competition to go up against and always crushing their opponents.
