Since 2001, KOST-103.5 has gone all-Christmas (and did so again for 2005 last Friday, November 18th). For most of that time, they've been alone in Los Angeles in being all-Christmas.
But not this year. And the name of the station challenging KOST will probably surprise you.
According to this article in Billboard Radio Monitor, country-formatted KZLA has also taken the plunge.
While a handful of country stations went all-Christmas a few years ago, I don't think any country stations went 24/7 Christmas music the last couple of years. It's generally believed that Soft AC stations (like KOST) are the most "compatible" with an all-Christmas sound, as regards format and target demographics.
The article claimed that about 75% of KZLA's all-Christmas sound would come from country artists normally heard on the station.
