Curious how this was compiled...not surprised at Number One.....can anyone explain why I wasn't surprised at #1....and a very startling exclusion considering the magnitude of his chart success...

NOTHING post 1991, (when the charts compilation rules changed) should be included in this list.
Late 1991 thru today are under different methodologies, that are allowing many songs to stay at #1 or #2 for many weeks (One Sweet Day or Macarena for example), therefore are being ranked high with the classics.

I am in complete agreement with all the comments.....so far it looks like "Beauty is in the Age of the beholder" had it not been a weighted compilation it could have looked more like a chronological backwards chart starting from 2008 backwards...the modern day songs sold more copies, but they did take chart history, position and longevity into account along with sales, and also since The Twist was number one two different years it is always a cinch to finish #1 on most all-time charts. The first Hot 100 chart debut was mid 1958, which might explain the glaring MIA Elvis Presley...

At one time "I'm A Believer" was the biggest selling record of the 60s and now they tell us it's listed at #48 of all time.
They use different standards for measuring these hits now than they did years ago, so how can you compare?
Sorry I don't buy it. ;D
