Billy Mays' ads to remain; Discovery Channel to air retrospective

Is that what's showing up as "Paid Programming" according to my digital box' program guide? Geez, I was wondering what Discovery was up to - but now I get it. Very clever, in fact. I'll try to tune in.

Honestly, I was more shocked and felt worse about Billy Mays' passing than Michael Jackson's. And that's being said by someone who was annoyed as Hell with his ads! But he seemed like a heck of a nice guy. Watched one or two episodes of Pitchmen and you could just see that he was a genuine family man. Anthony Sullivan seems like more the slick huckster.

Did the Billy Mays tribute really show up as "Paid Programming"? Now that's creepy!

Yes, it did on my cable system's EPG! And, even during the retrospective - which was a good tribute - the info screen on the show just said "Paid Programming 8-9 pm."

Clearly wrong, if for no other reason, as that they showed ads!

Yes. My COMCAST on-air guide listed Paid Programming 9PM-10PM and 12AM-1AM last night for Discovery Channel, which was the Billy tribute.

Plus if you call within the next ten minutes, we'll throw in Ed McMahon's favorite ALPO commercials! You just pay for shipping and handling, call now!

Just tell me what stores are now selling the handy hooks, "as advertised on tv", and I will be a happy camper.

Probably Walmart. I've noticed alot of "As Seen on TV" merchandise there lately included "The Gopher". We have a whole bunch of them in a box with Billy Mays' picture on it.

Anyway I saw a new BM commercial for a new product today. It's called "The Fly Away" and its supposed to keep flies and other insects away. And at the end of the commercial it said "In Loving Memory 1958-2009".
