Blog slams Action News election coverage, Tim Lake and Renee Chenault-Fattah

The Phillyist blog has slammed Action News election coverage saying, "ABC 6 seemed like they were covering an election in 1986" and "Someone really needs to tell the talent at Action News that the Ron Burgundy/Ted Baxter style of reporting and anchoring is to be used for comic effect only, not for serious broadcasts."

They also mention that Renee Chenault-Fattah is married to a congresman which they feel is "not-quite-kosher" and that Tim Lake should be "hosting Good Day Tampa Bay or some late night infomercial rather than a newscast."

They did have a reasonably accurate description of the news coverage, with 10 being best, but they didn't need to be so mean.

They are absolutely right about Renee Chenault-Fattah. Not being a native of the area, I have been surprised to see her anchoring at all during the campaign season. Clearly a conflit of interest.

But maybe it's acceptable around here for someone who clearly has connections to the liberal wing of the democratic party to pretend to be "fair and balanced". Human nature being what it is, there's just no way that she can be. I can see her in a promo now: "I'm not an impartial observer - but I play one on TV."

I really wonder how many people know who Renee Chenault-Fattah is married to and why she hasn't stepped away from the anchor desk and moved into a non-news role like co-host of 10! or gotten a job in a market where there would be no conflict of interest.
