Blueberry blows up mid coast 102.5 and the Hot Ac format on 94.5/97.5 for soft rock

saw this yesterday on radio insight, surprised no one has posted on it. Seems like another move to save money from blueberry, I'm actually surprised that it took this long for them to combine 102.5 and 94.5. Outside of Bob and Sheri in the morning, does anyone know if they are voice tracking any talent or is it just music and with recorded weather drops ? It does seem odd that they've reintroduced the soft rock tag ? I know Kiss has been a hot ac/mainstream ac for years, there must have been a pretty large reworking of the music library. I can't hear these stations in southern maine so i don't know what the overall sound is. It seems very strange that blueberry is using a soft rock tag, do stations still use that tag. Everytime i hear it, i think of the commercials for WSSH in MA when I was a kid in the 80s.

They must have tweaked the format when they added 102.5 as they have leaded pretty modern AC since they blew up top 40 B97 for sports some 5 or 6 years ago. This makes sense for Blueberry: 15 stations with 5 formats spread across 3 sticks each.

They're a fully jocked station, thankfully the Bangor market still believes in voicetracking and not jockless jukeboxes like some areas have become.

According to their website, they do have a staff of voicetrackers... http://www.kissfm.net/. Anyone listen to the station recently? According to their facebook page, they say it's Hot AC when in fact it shouldn't be considering their slogan is "continuous soft rock". If anyone could get an hour's worth of what they've played, that would be great.

Truly sad that the day has come that a market that "still believes in voicetracking" is now considered "a fully jocked station"....

That's for sure.

Kiss 94.5

Sad to see that this switch was made. KISS 94.5 was a decent HOT AC station as small market standards go. I think it would have been smarter if they went HOT AC on all three stations. I agree, this soft rock thing is boring and is going to lose listeners rapidly.

For some reason when I posted this a couple days ago (after being logged in) it came up as Unregistered Guest. Not the case this morning however. Strange.
