Well, that seemed rather vague on the details, didn't it? It almost sounds like like iBiquity wants to dedicate an entire subchannel on stations to up and coming artists, the way SiriusXM does with popular musicians. I've never been a fan of that approach; if I'm a big fan of someone like The Beatles or whoever, chances are I already own all the music I want to hear, myself. I certainly can't see someone going out and buying a (non-existent) HD radio just to listen to unknown bands, either.
Perhaps it's more to get HD radio advertising out to the concert goers who are going to see these artists, but again, new music like that is rarely heard on radio, HD or otherwise, so I doubt any young person sampling a new artist is going to be interested in buying any kind of radio to further explore whatever music they like.
