BMP Drops Norteño 1490 in favor of Juan

BMP started stunting with a non-stop "pobre Juan" song sometime this afternoon. The ID on the top of the hour clearly is identifying the station as KFON Austin - Juan...... I'm guessing that that it will be like a Bob or Jack style format, although in Spanish.

Somebody had a station in the Dallas ForthWorth area named RAdio Jose. I think it was LBI! So maybe Radio Juan would be the same format? Radio Jose was an all request station as far as I remember,

José (sans the "Radio") is Entravision's syndicated / satellite delivered adult hits (oldies of the 70's to the 90's) format. It is not all requests and it was never in Dallas.

Let's see:

You said LBI. It was Entravision
You said Dallas. It was not in Dallas
You said all requests. José is not all requests.
You added "Radio" to the name. There is no "Radio" in front of "José"

Four wrong in two lines. Not bad.

Actually, Entravision ran the "Jose" format on KBOC 98.3 after its signal was upgraded and moved into the DFW market on 8/2/06 and continued the format until LBI took possession on 11/3/06 and flipped it to "El Norte".

My bad... I just assume anything that poster says is wrong.

My recollection is that Entravision ran Jose prior to the upgrade, or while it was being built as a "hold pattern." I never heard it, as nowhere I went could I find a signal...

Here's a link that talks about "Jose" from Entravision's PR department. http://www.entravision.com/ccbn_Template.cfm?ticker=EVC&script=410&layout=-6&item_id=770600

Fred, I think that your right about the canned cookie cutter approach to Spanish language radio. "Juan" appears to be a copy of "Jose", even the 'Toca lo que Quiere' comes from "Jose"

My mistake was to assume that, as usual, everything you would post is wrong. In this case, you actually got one out of five things you said right, which has to be a first.
