Bob Bolinger to be out as GM of Clear Channel ????

For those keeping score, the iPhone is $399.00
http://www.apple.com/pr/library/2007/09/05iphone.html

But hey, I'm glad some of us have the money to blow, just not the average listener...
(Isn't the average listener what it is all about?)

Wrong price. It's $199 8gb and $299 16gb for gen 2.x phones. I see a lot of "average listeners" with the phones on the train, and around the place, after all, Apple has sold millions in the U.S.

Supporting the economy one buck at a time,

The next generation is what it's all about and the next generation does not like radio and listens when it doesn't have a better choice. It's meaningless in a world with Limewire, YouTube, MySpace and cooler things.

Gonna get flamed for this but, oh well.

There are still an awful lotta people out there who are so passive when it comes to their musical entertainment, they just turn on the radio. It's not important enough to them to hassle with downloading stuff.

Granted, these are probably, in a lot of cases, people we don't run into every day. But, they're out there.....People who kind of care about music and pop culture and stuff, but not soooo much that they go out of their way to figure stuff out, install it, buy an iPod, yadda yadda. They have other stuff to deal with, like their lives.

More people listen to radio than to any other medium. Free radio. And the industry is always fast to point this fact out. The reality is that the next generation is not listening to radio and the industry cannot sustain its previous growth without the next generation. The truth is that radio owners want things to stay the same but things can’t stay the same because of rapidly changing technology and the mistake of radio stations to assume the next generation would always be available to them.

No flames, this is an open cigar smokin' place.

Well you know guys, Clear Channel (like other corporations) have done some stupid things in the past like dumping oldies, dumping KPOP, putting scare America on the air, and bringing back XTRA sports. Dumping Bob is the stupidest thing they could ever do! Bob is the last GM that is a broadcaster in Southern California. And putting Brad Samuel in power over that place is like suicide to Clear Channel SD. The guy thinks good programming is "New Country 95.7" and XTRA sports 1360, he thinks that KOGO and KGB are out dated, and he can't sell spots on them so he tells everyone that they are un-sellable, perhaps and here is a thought Brad Samuel is useless as a Sales Manager, and as a GM, you might as well bulldoze the KOGO towers, and KGB and just turn off Mt. Soledad. Because if they think things are bad with Bob there will be a bankruptcy sign in front of granite ridge when Brad is done with it.

The sad thing is that Bob as turned Granite Ridge for the most part into an A$%hole free environment, and has brought in some really good people. But if he doesn't fire Brad he won't have a job soon, Samuel is a power hungry blood thirsty pile of cow dump. Did i say that out loud? One thing Brad needs to learn is that respect is earned, not demanded. Bob has earned mine and many other people's respect I would work for Bob Bolinger any day of the week. In fact I already have twice!

The good thing is that Bob will be in broadcasting for many more years, If Brad gets this job as GM it will show Clear Channel and the world that Brad is not fit to run a kennel. But I do know that Brad can spread crap around really good after all he is a salesman!

Keep an eye out guys if Brad gets the job there will be a flood of departures from Clear Channel.

In all my years in radio, I never knew a GSM that wasn't. The really good salespeople didn't want the job.

Smoking kills, Cigars are disgusting!

Don't ever say I am wrong when I am not wrong. There's the link, posted right above.
199 for an 8gb, generation 1. You'd be better off attaching a note to a rock and throwing it, and then there are the monthly fees which are prohibitive for those of us in the 600 club.
Either way, arguing over the difference between "shrubs" and "bushes" is irrelevant; those iPhones are expensive to the rest of us normal people and you know it.

Don't ever say I am wrong, when I am not wrong.

Wow...This is small potatoes, nothing to get your panties in a bunch about...
Some I-phones have sold for $199 or $299. It depends if you are an exsisting customer and whether you have an option in your contract to upgrade. There are lots of variables...

Your Q-106 web site is awesome!! You are right about so may things :)

I agree and it's fun to read press releases that are over one year old!

Never let the facts get in the way of your posting. Your link is one year old (see the 2007 in the link?). If you walk into the Apple (if they have it there) or AT&T store you'll see the price as I posted.

Apple has not sold generation one phones since late May 2008. The link you posted is one year old and the pricing is wrong ... sorry I used the "W" word again.

My total cost for my iPhone is $50 a month including the data service. That's the standard price and if you don't believe it, I can post a pdf of my bill.

OK, if you are not wrong (drat, there it is again) that makes an erroneous error that you posted. Thanks for playing, please resume normal posting and please no private messages, they are deleted from you.

Guys who cares about your I-phones. There are some amazing people in radio that being shown the door, and there is a possibility that the legendary Bob Bolinger may be one of them. Now lets get back to the business of solving the world of radio's problems! (of course no one cares what we say about radio and will change nothing). By the way stand by for November the CC layoffs have only just begun.

You know I miss the good old days when guys would have their "measuring contest" and they were comparing the engines in their hod rods, or who had the loudest or best stereo. Now you guys are arguing over who has the best phone, or who paid the lowest cost for it, or who has the most minutes on their plan. Dear God send me back to the time when men were men ! By the way My car has a 390 with an autolite 4100 4 BBL, and dual custom stainless steel exhaust, now beat that with your I-Phone LOL!

Don't pay any attention to them.
You are correct. Unfortunately, there are some people here who are bullies.
They can afford their Beamers, their North County Coaster rides, Cigars, and their iPhones and are painfully out of touch with radio listeners.

Or anybody, actually.

Yes, I made a mistake. Guess what? It does not matter, iPhones are still expensive. You act like "Oh, people can just go out an buy an iPhone." Sure, why not? Here, have some money, we all have some, right?
Know what? You weren't elected my personal "fact checker." You want to play? Fine, some weeks there are so many spelling errors in your website, (http://www.sdradio.net) I need to print it out and read it upside down to make sense of it.

Really? You get to hit and run, eh?
That's unbelievably cowardly.

I have a LG P.O.S. cell phone. it doesnt have internet, a mp3 player or camera. When it rings it plays Chuck & Flav 'Public Enemy #1'. I can text message too. I will not be buying an iPhone anytime soon. Im ghetto ass po'.

Guys its a radio message board go to the Mac website for blogs on i-phones! or forget your damn cell phone altogether. Radio is what makes the world go round, that and coffee! MMMMMM Coffee, but better make it coffee with Baileys!!! MMMMMMM Baileys. No wonder I was able to work for Clear Channel so long I had Baileys every morning, I was drunk off my rocker LOL! And I have so many happy memories of that place, the liquor store I mean.
