Bob Crane nominated for National Radio Hall of Fame

Bob Crane, morning man at KNX before becoming TV's lead on Hogan's Heroes, has been nominated for induction into the National Radio Hall of Fame. The CT Post newspaper this past Sunday ran an excellent article about Bob Crane's radio work at WICC in Connecticut and KNX. No mention in the article about how he died or the whole sex addiction/tape thing either. That's good, but people know of it and it will remain to be seen if those doing the voting can get past that. He should be recognized for his radio work which was amazing.
 
He was a top radio guy that interviewed stars of hollywood and related to the common man as well. With the exception of Richard Dawson who became a game show host, the Hogan's Hero show made it hard for actors to continue their careers. Robert Clary was in some movies after the TV show.
 
This is not about Hogan's Heroes or his sex life, so I believe the people voting in Chicago will be mature enough to let his radio work speak for itself
 
I have a 1 hour unscoped aircheck of Bob Crane from KNX 3/9/1962.
I've never heard him live but I can tell good radio when I hear it.

Bob deserves the recognition even posthumously.
 
He was a murder victim. As far as the sex stuff, look at all kinds of media moguls, actors, singers, sport figures and actresses involved in "lots of sex." Some basketball player wrote a book and said he had sex with 20,000 women, I doubt that that would keep him out of the hall of fame.

Some basketball player? You never heard of the late Hall of Famer Wilt Chamberlain? Yikes! :eek:
 
I don't like the sound of squeeky tennis shoes on a wood floor, but I'mglad he followed in Hogan's footsteps.
 
Bob Crane is certainly deserving of this. His career in radio wasn't particularly long, but that's because TV fame beckoned.

My mother was a fan of Crane's show on KNX, so I remember hearing it every weekday morning at breakfast in the early 60s...though I was probably listening to Robert W. Morgan or Lohman & Barkley in my room. His show was funny, and quite adult, though as a kid (11, 12 at the time) I could appreciate it.
