Bob Hedlund in for Felon Finneran on Labor Day

Bob tells me he is in for Tom Finneran on Monday. I warned him about the studio situation!

For those of you who don't know Bob, he is one of the smartest men in the MAssachusetts Senate, a true scholar, historian, and he is one of us, a guy who has had the radio bug for years. He did time at WATD under an alias in the past, and now hosts his own show on Monday nights on 95.9.

When he is not up on the hill trying to keep the Democrats from stealing your money, or doing his radio gig, he can be found at rock concerts all over the South Shore.

How can Senator Hedlund be one of the smartest men in the Legislature, AND go around attending rock "concerts" everywhere. Rock "music" is designed to appeal to the adolescent mind, if it can be called a mind, and Senator Hedlund is presumably at least chronologically an adult. If your mental age is well short of your chronological age, isn't that the definition of an idiot? Wait a minute: you said "one of the smartest men in the Massachusetts Legislature"! Oh, now it makes sense. Never mind.

Imagine how brain-dead he would be if he listened to WCRB...

Wait someone is actually "designing" rock music? All along I thought it was merely another art form. If in fact it is by design, would the architect of the design be on his or her death bed by now? I mean it has been over 50 years. Did Mozart design his music to appeal to adults? Is Paul McCartney, now 67 years old playing only to young teens? Have you seen the quantity of Botox and Grecian Formula devotees at a Stones show? Was former Governor Weld a guy who was not up to his chronlogical age when he attended Grateful Dead concerts? Is Prince Charles a child for holding rock concerts every year? Hedlund is 48 which means that he grew up listening to rock music from the 1970s, and '80s he is still listening to these bands. I might be able see your point if he were to attend a Wiggles or Hanah Montana concert. And with word that he is now expecting a baby the Wiggles can't be far off for him. Plus let's look at some of the behavior from our State House crew. Did Hedlund get busted for grabbing women in a Lowell park? No. Or was he photographed making a N.H. packy run? No. Taking bribes? No. He simply likes rock music. Would you prefer Country or Hip Hop? Should he listen only to artists his own age and older? If rock music is the best you can do in taking a shot at Hedlund then more power to him.

Doesn't Boston have about 3 or 4 classical stations, getting very high ratings? Classical is more popular than ever :)

Concerts by the likes of McCartney can attract a wide variety of ages and provide quality music, even though not all will agree. I myself
enjoy rock (at least various types of it), country, blues, novelty songs, folk, and so on. I am proud of the great
musical tradition that linked blues, pop, country, folk, and gospel in this country to form rock and roll, a genre that ranges far and wide in return.

You know the blues got soul/ Well the blues had a baby/ And they named it rock and roll.

I'll have to tell that to my buddy Dan, who is a clinical psychologist and also the vocalist for an excellent rock band from Philly called Paint It Black. Or Dr. Greg Graffin, vocalist for Bad Religion. Or Dr. Milo Auckerman from the Descendents, who has a PhD in biochemistry... or Rivers Cuomo from Weezer, Harvard grad. Or John Kezdy from the Chicago band the Effigies, who is an assistant DA there.

micahel graham interviewed bob hedlund Tuesday morning about the state senate's unaminous support of a quarantine in case of infectious disease

Jazz with Eric is an almost daily must-listen
