Bongino tapped for FBI Deputy Director

Once again, I think Bongino would proudly wear that badge. Draining the swamp is not mainstream thought. It never has been, even among republicans. I work with republicans. I've done radio shows with republicans. None of them would ever do what Bongino is talking about. He WANTS to incite change. He and his crew believe the people voted for change. They have heard politicians promise them change before, and it never happened. What's happening now is real change. It may not be what people want, but it's certainly radical change and a far cry from anything we've seen in a very long time.
And long overdue. FOFA

Well there's the AP style book if one is interested why articles are worded the way they are.

But back to Bongino it will be interesting to see who Westwood One has in mind to replace his radio show while he is in the White House. Yes we expected something like this in even numbered years when someone gets appointed or runs for office. Recently, we had Pete Hegseth and Tulsi Gabbard who were Fox News Pundits get cabinet positions recently and another Pundit took their place once they got approval by the Senate to be in the White House.

AP Stylebook had meaning in the 60s. Now it has as much importance as the box of paper that used to get jammed. AP today is like the ribbon that use to jam on there old teletype machines.

Some reporting on talk show host Dan Bongino, the new #2 at the FBI:

Someone pointed out to me that through its entire history, the FBI has always been run by republicans. Starting with J. Edgar Hoover. Back in the 60s and 70s, a lot of the radical left had very similar opinions about the bureau to those of Bongino.

Bongino has never considered himself a journalist. Far from it. He is a talk show host .....a passionate conservative voice. Authentic, not a made up personality. His very loyal following is because he has taken a stance and never varied it from day one. Any successful broadcaster knows the importance of being laser focused on your core audiance. Bongino stays focused on this core audiance just as Rush was. Like him or not, his success is undeniable. Finding someone to fill his shoes will be a real task.

I agree. He's an entertainer, just like most of the other people running the government. He will make his decisions in the FBI focused on pleasing his core audience just as he did on the radio. It's very entertaining for their audience. For the other half of the population, it's taxation without representation. We know where that ended up.

But this is why it's hard to isolate politics from radio in this forum. The process is very similar because the people are more experienced in media than in government.

In all the coverage I've seen of his appointment, I've not seen a reference to his Westwood One radio show, only podcasting.

You brought back memories... bad ones.

Cart becomes unwound inside cart machine.
You played a tape and did not note it said "tails out".
You played a 15ips tape at 7.5 or an album at 33 1/3
You did not know you had to turn on filaments first and then plate.
You did a whole show with the mike set to the AUD bus.
The needle broke when you back-cued and you could not find a new one.
You did any of a number of these things while the mike was open and you swore. Loudly.

All of the above.

I've noticed that too. Why is that?

How irrelevant has radio become -- at least in the sphere of those outlets reporting on this story -- when a national radio host is described only as a podcaster and radio doesn't even warrant a mention in the article?

Except "an album at 33 1/3." That's the proper speed for an LP. He either meant a single at 33 1/3 or an album at 45 -- or even worse, 16!
My bad. "An album at 45" should be.

Probably because Bongino was a podcaster first and a radio host second.

If Sean Hannity becomes Secretary of Vaping, you think the articles will describe him as a radio host or tv host?
