BONNEVILLE ACQUISITION OF 850kHz ?

BurntOutRadio said:
From the "Northwest Broadcasters" web site form a couple of days ago:
The FCC has granted voluntary assignment of licenses for KHHO AM 850 Tacoma; KJR AM 950, KJR-FM 95.7 and KUBE-FM 93.3 Seattle; and KFNK-FM 104.9 Eatonville from Ackerley Broadcasting Operations to Citicasters Licenses. The Commission also has granted voluntary transfer of control of KNBQ-FM 102.9 Centralia from Jacor Communications Company to Clear Channel Holdings.

Q: What do Jacor, Ackerley, Citicasters and Clear Channel Holdings all have in common?

A: They're all tentacles of Clear Channel.

Nothing's changed, just the paperwork.....

And this is news...how?

I realize this is not news to you and I but Mr. Tillery above gave out some bum dope.

You have an absolute right to your own opinion, and I will support your right to think whatever you choose. Likewise, I also have a right to my own opinion. I resent that statement that I am giving out bum dope, whatever that is supposed to be. Out of all the boards I frequent, my observation has been this Seattle Board is the most critical and most unfriendly of all the rest I have visited.

The fact remains that according to the FCC database, the station in question is licensed to Ackerly Communications. That is a fact that I quoted as the station is not directly licensed to Clear Channel Communications. Although Clear Channel may own Ackerly, the fact remains that the license is licensed to Ackerly until the license transfer is approved. I was not aware, however, that Clear Channel owned Ackerly until now. Forgive me for not having all the correct answers, while at the same time I thank you for clearing up that matter, but, please, keep your insults to yourself. It was uncalled for and undeserving to me.

Happy New Year!!!

Did you notice that a few of our posts were censored today? I guess someone must have complained because of brutal honesty. I'm not one to "sugar coat" my opinions, especially when there seems to be alot of "brutal honesty" that appears to be the "norm" on this thread anyway. I will admit that diplomacy will will go a long way if everyone followed that advice. LOL, Guess this will get censored, too. Oh well.... Carry one!!!

"bum dope" = just about everyone around here that has an interest in radio knows that about Ackerly.

I apologize for my remark. I was just reacting to the insult dropped on me by the infamous Howard M. Burgers. You have a Happy New Year also.

Thank you for the explaination. Im not from Seattle, so I am unfamilar with the market, having no personal market knowledge. I'm in Florida and have a knowledge of Clear Channel as it relates to the CC properties in Florida and the Eastern U. S., but I have very little knowledge of all the Clear Channel intertwines in the West. In Florida the Clear Channel subsidiaries are Jacor, Chancellor, Citicasters, AMFM, Capstar and Paxson Radio (formerly the radio didvision of Paxson Communications, now ION Television).

Having been in the broadcast industry for over 34-years as a programmer, sales executive, general manager, owner, and now broker/consultant, I find the Seattle market, what little I know of it, to be a fascinating market. It's interesting to read the various post from those who know the market, and I find that I learn something relevant and useful from the exchange.

Thank you once again for the explaination. Have a very Happy 2010 New Year!!!
