Bonneville may swap the sound and then no more sound

Not even eight months is "approaching a year?"

Okay, look. I don't have your encyclopedic radio knowledge, but I just looked up another radio station. KLOS debuted in 1969, 38 years ago. According to your logic, I could say they're "approaching sixty years." Or, for that matter, a hundred.

Yes, the sound is "approaching a year." Or, they've been on the air for 270 days. It really depends on how you look at it.

Gosh. It's nasty around here. Unless you're always right.

Someone is awlays going after kroq channel 103.1 did and indie 1031 does and now radio 98.7 does i assume it does hurt kroq around the edges but 98.7 is there most serious competitor and yet they still get similar numbers when they were star i don't think kevin weatherly is to concerned!!!

Happy holidays guys and gals

Why do so many people on here have a chip on their shoulder with DE?

The guy knows what he's talking about and speaks from fact and knowledge, so what's the problem?

He's accurate 99.9999% of the time. So why not just have fun with it and learn instead of coming at him?

Geez!

Its not that we hate him...hate is such an ugly word. Its the arrogance. Being right doesnt bug me, i get it hes been around along time and knows alot. But hes not the only one, although if you ask him...hell, even if you dont ask him, he'll tell you some kind of figure that shows that HE IS the only one that knows (SARCASM!). And here is DE with with his witty retort... ;D

Witty retort:

Two men walked into a bar and the bartender says....

I'm kinda starting to like this guy.

DE and I have had our arguments on here. Most of the time he is right, but so am I. So I look at it as every situation, every story, every plan, every idea has two sides.

DE specializes in the Southern Markets and Western Markets. I mostly work in the Mid-West, Great Plains and New England. He knows Clear Channel...I know Bonneville. its really a simple solution.

However, Bonneville wants more stations in DC. Hell, they are already in the Top 10 billers with their monster WTOP.

First I kenw that New York and Chicago were southern or western markets.

And, acutally, to me "southern" is Buenos Aires and "western" is Guadalajara.

As to Bonneville, I worked with Arch Madsen on the AIR for years, and am quite familiar with the company.

However, Bonneville wants more stations in DC. Hell, they are already in the Top 10 billers with their monster WTOP.

Even before the current recession, DC has been a no-growth market, while LA was growing rapidly. And WTOP has been the top biller there for a long time... with revenues almost double the #2 station. That kind of lightening does not strike twice... it's no coincidence that an all news station be at the top in DC.

Gary Lycan in today's OC Register acknowledged the rumor of a possible swap by CBS of KNX and KFWB for KSWD.

According to Gary: "Spokesmen for both companies said the reports are not true."

I guess the next question is: how did the rumor get started?

Why would Bonneville, who is moving news / talk to FM everywhere they operates the format, want to be stripped of its FM and take on two AMs with ageing demos?

That's a silly rumor.

Knowing how Gary Lycan gets his stories, he probably read it on Radio-Info.
It would be nice if Gary Lycan could explain how CBS could pick up a 6th FM in a market where they are already at their legal maximum of FM's.

Another dumb rumor.
