Bonneville news and Hubbard music team-up?

Looks like Hubbard-owned music stations will now feature news updates from Bonneville-owned KIRO for awhile. I find this to be a unique idea. How often do competing radio owners collaborate like this?

It depends. The fact that stations from many competing companies carry syndicated shows from either iHeart or Cumulus might be an example. In Philadelphia, the former CBS-owned radio stations just made a deal to carry news & weather from the NBC-owned TV stations.

In Seattle, Hubbard doesn't have a local news operation. There aren't a lot of other options. They might have chosen to do a deal with a local TV station, but apparently this worked best for them.

If the Bonneville staff are doing reports for Hubbard are they being compensated for the work?

KPQ 560 is airing news updates on the hour on their sister Quake 102.1 KPQ Wenatchee, and has been since last week.
Albeit hourly news updates haven't happened on Seattle non-news/NPR FMs in a number of years, at least 17-18 years.
