BOOGITY BOOGITY BOOGITY! NASCAR Moving From WQDR To WPTF

THIS JUST SUCKS: Can you say "crappy signal"? Especially for the night races? Hopefully the Brickyard race (aired by the IMS Radio Network) gets to stay on 99.9, since this would be the only NASCAR race to air on a decent signal... I hope CMG doesn't start screwing things up like CC is notorious for doing...

I wonder how much revenue WQDR loses in switching the NASCAR races to WPTF?, News Radio 680 was
a good station before losing the top two talk shows, racing though does not fit their current format, they
would have better off to align themselves with 99.9 WCMC, but i assume they will be carrying baseball
so that would interfere in securing the rights.

You know, the races are on TV. NASCAR ratings have been going downhill on TV and radio for a
few years. The new radio rating technology (PPM) shows NASCAR performing much worse for Country stations
than playing their regular music. Same thing is happening in Charlotte and Greensboro.

The races belong on a Sports or News/Talk station.

It clearly isn't doing anything on the radio.

They moved it to a station in the Triad that's pulling a 1.0 and WPTF has fallen off the charts as well. I think it's a nice PR move by Curtis though to prop up their struggling stations a little bit.

Actually, the Durham Bulls moved back to 620 The Buzz last season (after a year on 99.9) as part of the Capitol Broadcasting deal that brought the former 620 The Bull into the CBC stable and consolidating the three sports stations into two (eliminating the former 850 The Buzz). The IMS affiliation was formerly on 850 The Buzz and they migrated over to 99.9, as did pretty much all 850's sports affiliations except for Duke, who migrated over to KIX-102.9.

Okay, so the Nationwide Series races are on WQDR-AM 570, and the Sprint Cup races are (supposedly) on WPTF-AM 680... but how come they didn't air the Gatorade Duels yesterday? WPTF aired the Bud Shootout last weekend, but I had to catch yesterday's Duels on a rimshot signal at 96.7-FM out of Roxboro ???

If you're a NASCAR fan, subscribe to the NASCAR TrackPass on their website. Then, watch the race on TV. If you can't get to a TV, listening on the computer will be better than listening on a radio.

The Neews & Observer listed WQDR as airing the Daytona 500. Is that correct?

As far as the less important races go, I noticed the only Charlotte-area station listed was WHKY. That can be picked up in Charlotte during the day, but what if the race is at night?

I believe WZGV 730AM in Cramerton is actually a little closer to Charlotte. They will carry MRN Nationwide and Sprint Cup Races and PRN Nationwide Races. PRN Sprint Cup Races will be on another station in Charlotte...

Well, someone needs to tell the Observer.

I could, but are you SURE?

Has this been confirm? I have searched some of the news sights and cannot find any conformation. Sorry not to say you're wrong or a slam or any thing. Ha ha :D ;) ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D  ??? :'( :D

The New York Islanders (whose current flagship is a college radio station) thinks NASCAR's got problems.
