BOOGITY BOOGITY BOOGITY! NASCAR Moving From WQDR To WPTF

The Neews & Observer listed WQDR as airing the Daytona 500. Is that correct?

As far as the less important races go, I noticed the only Charlotte-area station listed was WHKY. That can be picked up in Charlotte during the day, but what if the race is at night?

Nope, the N&O hasn't yet updated their listings... the race aired on WPTF-AM 680. Nationwide Series races on WQDR-AM Country Legends 570, Cup races aired by MRN or PRN on WPTF-AM 680. No word yet on the Brickyard race (carried by the IMS Radio Network), but last year the affiliation formerly carried by 850 The Buzz had moved to 99.9 The Fan.

as a fan of NASCAR since I was old enough to remember let me add some thoughts.
I am sad that QDR is not doing the races any more.
I remember back in the day when the thing was Your home for the stars and cars,
but NASCAR now does have issues.
We have had the same chapion for the last 5 years.
We left our roots, and it is showing in the ratings.
Nascar needs some help.
They can start by not letting Johnson get number six this year.
They can start by returning races to places like Rockingham.

Here's another idea: Bring back the original Southern 500 (Darlington) on Labor Day weekend rather than applying the name to the May race (held on Mother's Day weekend) like they did two years ago...

with so much leaving Broadcast radio I am afriad I might no longer have need of over the air radio soon.
I am one of those who listens to all music threw Sirius, Pandora or my iPod.
most of my sports radio comes from Sirius, but the main reason I got Siri was that here in Charleston we don't have NASCAR on a good signal.
When visiting NC I have always turned off Sirius in favor of QDR.
Now I guess the only radio listening will be when I visit NC and listen to WTSB 1090.
I cannot go home to Smithfield with out listening to Carl and Lisa and Larry.
they do radio like it used to be.
