Boomer Esiason Rumored to Take Don Imus' Slot Permanently at WFAN

Third-hand story -- yet to be confirmed

The source was third-hand: Page Six (NY Post gossip section) via Local 12 (Cincinnati TV station) via Dayton Daily News (Ohio newspaper).

Relying on a rumor is not reporting news, it's spreading gossip.

Nothing good has ever come from Cincinnati.

OR from CBS radio!

And yet I wouldn't be surprised if this did happen. They could have re-hired David Lee Roth and probably got the same exact results.

What disgusted me about this whole thing is how this evening on Sports Center when they break away for the PTI Big Finish, Dan Lebetard brought up the Esiason rumor and Michael Wilbon acted completely unprofessional. Last time I saw a grown individual act that childish was during an episode of The Price is Right when they won the showcase to get on stage. We get it Wilbon. You had a problem with Don Imus saying what he did and a lot of other high-powered people had the same problem (advertisers). We get it that Wilbon has had issues with racism in the past and he probably looks at caucasians who use expletives or inappropriate language with disgust. I have absolutely no problem with that. If Wilbon absolutely hates Don Imus and detests him with every moral fiber of his being, that's absolutely understandable. But clapping out loud with a grin and almost rejoicing about another individual perhaps losing their job, whether the individual deserved to lose their job or not, is completely unprofessional.

The first time the story hit, one of Wilbon's first takes on it was, and I quote: "Imus is a bigot." Sticking to his guns? Yes. A little too giddy? Maybe, or maybe the fact that he was ecstatic was because he really is a good friend of Boomer.

Incidentally, it's odd that ESPN specifically listed it as Imus' replacement on "WFAN" as the story put it, and not "CBS Radio". Wonder if it'll be a local only show?

It probably will be local only. I really can't see them syndicating Boomer through Westwood One.

Then again, it is CBS Radio.

youguys are missing it completely. If anyone new comes on the FAN, its gonna be Dan Patrick. He just quit ESPN and says he's looking for new ops. Now, NOBODY with a family of teenagers just quits job without having one ready to go, so dont be surprised to see Dan as a candidate for that morning slot at the FAN.

and just in time for football season.

I like this idea better than Esiason.

Dan Patrick is a fine voice of reason for Sports Radio and knows his stuff, btu he might be a bit dull for Morning Radio in NYC.

Esiason? He was good with Mad Dog discussing football, it might work out, btu what about moving Joe Benigno down there with him?
