Boston 25 News announces the departure of longtime news anchor Mark Ockerbloom

WFXT is salary dumping - first Lamanowicz and now Ockerbloom. Boston doesn’t need five local TV news operations in an era of declining viewership for linear TV. My guess is that WFXT will be the first to get out of the news business altogether.

I agree that Boston can no longer sustain five local TV news rooms. However, it would be ironic if WFXT were first to fold since they air very little else other than local news and Fox network programming now. There would be a lot of hours of programming to fill there.

I feel like NBCU really made an ill-advised decision to take away the NBC affiliation from WHDH and expand their NECN news operation to include NBC Boston. It doesn't seem like they've really gained any traction in the market.

At the end of the day, I firmly believe that WBZ-TV, WCVB-TV and WHDH will be the last three standing.
