I'm guessing this is online only, or maybe CC might also put it on an HD subchannel? It'll have some listeners, but it won't compete with conventional news stations in the immediate future.

Or, just speculating, for regular analog on-air broadcast they could put it on AM 1200 and/or FM 101.7 if neither of their recent format changes are yielding much.
 
If it's on the "regular radio" I would guess 1200 would be its home.

Matty's Chuckle Hour Radio isn't exactly lighting the world on fire. At least with the promotion for iHeart there would be some reason to leave the transmitter on.
 
Clear Channel was going to do something like this on XM several years ago -- a half-dozen or so regionalized news channels with all the news being compiled and read from a central hub -- but abruptly pulled the plug on the plan. Then, as now, Clear Channel has rights to a big chunk of XM bandwidth -- part of the "deal with the devil' that XM did to obtain enough funding to launch in 2001.

Wait KIIS-FM of Los Angeles had a Channel on XM at one point but I'm not sure if Clear Channel was the one that put KIIS Los Angeles on XM.

KIIS is still on XM, along with two New York stations, WSIX Nashville and WGCI Chicago. They all take up space on the bandwith CC has squatted on since way before the merger. Only XM subscribers can hear the,. None of the CC stations do news.
 
Has anyone checked out the new station yet? I think it is only available online or with the iHeart Radio app. It's not bad and the traffic announcement is up-to-date. I think Clear Channel could use parts of this on the Harbor during morning and afternoon drive times.
