Boston... Only Top 10 Market with No Full-Power Minority FMs

Still, 101.7 supposedly has a good signal almost everywhere inside I-495.

WRONG! To the south, the signal is terrible, because of WWBB and it's IBOC in the direction of Providence and WCIB towards the cape. They are directional away from both.

It looks like Boston will have to wait a while longer for a minority-programmed FM station. 101.7 was bought by religious broadcasters who also own 1320 WDER Derry NH. WDER has all the paid preaching shows you'd expect, including Focus on The Family, In Touch Ministries and Insight for Living.

I'm not sure if 101.7 will simulcast WDER since some of these shows are already heard on Salem-owned WEZE 590 Boston. Of course, they could always fool us. Salem owns some stations around the U.S. running secular formats, including a Country and an Oldies station in Honolulu. So I guess there's still the possibility Blount Communications could put a Latin or Urban AC format on 101.7.

My mistake. I got 92.1 WFEX confused with 101.7 WFNX. (The two stations had been simulcasting the Alternative Rock programming but not the commercials.) So it's 92.1 in Peterborough that will be going Religious, to be co-owned with 1320 WDER Derry. And another former simulcast, 92.1 in Sanford ME, has already switched to Oldies as WXEX-FM.

WFNX 101.7 is being bought by Clear Channel, with no format announced yet.
