Boston's WRKO-AM 680 to Debut The Grace Curley Show

It's always great radio when the two people doing the show crossover can only be heard by the listeners, and not the two hosts themselves.
The best crossovers were when the overnight guy on 'BZ (Steve Laveille) would chat with the morning anchor (Joe Mathieu) just before 5:00 am. Ah, but that's when both were in the same building, perhaps on opposite sides of a glass separating the news studio from the talk studio. Under CBS ownership. At 1170 SFR.

I'm not sure if you're referring to Grace and Howie, but if each is broadcasting through his/her laptop, well, lotsa luck with that. Perhaps having someone in the WRKO control room at iHeart would prevent the dead air many of the folks posting here are referring to. Heck, the control room operator might even enable the two co-hosts to hear each other!

Note: the above assumes (1) there is a control room at WRKO to which both Grace and Howie connect, and (2) there is a LIVE control room operator in the control room at WRKO.

That would be fine if they were local shows, and they worked for iHeart. They're not and they don't. What someone should do is listen to the other stations in the Howie Carr network, and hear if they're experiencing the same problems. I imagine they are.

Where Howie is is no longer on Newsmax, I don't see why they would let him use their facilities.... I was told that was the deal when he started spending more time in Florida, and it came right from his mouth.

He could do the same thing from the comfort of his Bradley Place condo... with a green cloth hanging in back of him and a couple of lights.... how many weather people (Shari Spear) were doing their segments from their basements... btw Shari's basement studio can be seen in her FB posts, it is pretty neat, and the morning weather guy on NECN (after 7 AM ) is doing it from his house in iirc Quincy hence the ocean and Harbor Islands in the background of his morning segments.

Howie is also hosting his live show on YouTube, which costs him nothing and depending on the viewers he may be getting short money from them

Now the question is does he feed YT direct from his Florida location and send a second feed to the MA studio or does it all bounce thru Needham or wherever he is

Well he isn't on the schedule anymore is he?

I SUSPECT he was removed after the Joe Degenova incident, which you can read about here:
I don't have cable, therefore, I was not aware Howie's no longer on the schedule....thanks for the article!

It's been a few months since you could see him on the Youtube channel where he gets up and leaves during the 4pm "quick check of the headlines" and comes back in a suit, and then at 5 doing the reverse change back into his graft sweatshirt.

Since WRKO is most likely The Howie Carr Network's "flagship" station, wouldn't you expect iHeart to have a hand in ensuring the link between the two remote hosts and 'RKO is better than what it now is?

I don't know. Others here have said Howie uses another satellite service. In any case, the technical responsibilities are likely delineated in Howie's contract with WRKO. Typically when one starts their own network, THEY take on those responsibilities. Especially if they were previously critical of technical operations at that station. But as I said, one way to know for sure is simply listen to one of Howie's other stations. Perhaps someone on this board could do that, and report back to us.

Heard ads on WNTK (New London, NH) yesterday that they'll be carrying Grace's show starting next week. Presumably it will also be on WUVR.

Even worse than giving Curly her own radio show is having her as a regular guest on Newsmax TV. She just repeats what everyone else is saying. Never an original thought of her own. A complete waste of time.

Even worse than giving Curly her own radio show...

I find that she is (surprisingly) handling her own show pretty well (instead of just being a side-kick on someone else's show, adding a line here and there.)

No problem engaging with callers, and seems to be abreast of whatever is going on. I don't find her uninformed. She writes well, she is from the area, and attended PC...not a slouch school.

IMHO, she is a great addition and adding some life to that time slot. I'm sure she will do well for herself.

You're right, I haven't listened to her radio show so I'm not qualified to comment on that. But so far she brings nothing to Newsmax that I can see. Maybe Howie's connect with Newsmax gave her an inroad.

Maybe she does it for free? That would be a win-win for Grace and Newsmax, no?
